Colour analysis — a great place to start, but not the whole story

Knowing your colour season makes shopping simpler — but great personal style sits at the intersection of what flatters you and what feels like you.

Colour analysis — a great place to start, but not the whole story

If you've ever stood in front of a wardrobe full of clothes thinking, I have absolutely nothing to wear — well, you're definitely not alone. Fashion can feel surprisingly overwhelming. There are trends, cuts, fabrics, styles, rules… and somehow you're expected to know what works.

That's why I think colour analysis is a great place to begin.

When you know the colours that naturally work with your skin, eyes and hair, shopping becomes simpler, getting dressed feels easier, and your wardrobe starts making a lot more sense. Instead of wondering why one jumper makes you look fresh and another makes you look like you've survived three consecutive night shifts, you actually have a framework that helps.

But here's the thing I always remind people…

Your colour season isn't your personality

Just because you're a Soft Autumn doesn't mean you're only allowed to wear muted beige until the end of time. (I promise there isn't a colour analysis police.)

Colour is emotional as much as it is flattering

Some days we wear bright colours because we feel confident. Other days we wear them because we'd quite like to borrow a little confidence. Sometimes we choose black because it feels chic. Sometimes because we'd rather not answer questions before coffee. Colour tells a story before we've even said hello.

It also reflects how much attention we're comfortable attracting. A bold red says something very different from a soft sage green, even if both technically suit you. Neither is right or wrong — they simply communicate different moods, energy and intentions.

What flatters you and what feels like you

That's why great personal style sits at the intersection of what flatters you and what feels like you.

Colour analysis gives you the foundations. It removes a huge amount of guesswork and helps you build a wardrobe where more pieces naturally work together. But once you've got that foundation, the fun begins.

You can choose colours that reflect your mood, your confidence, the occasion, or simply who you want to be that day.

Because getting dressed shouldn't feel like following a strict set of rules.

It should feel like having the knowledge and freedom to make choices that genuinely feel good.

And that's a much more colourful way to live :)
